Jackman is well known for its heavy-bodied bucks. There are many bucks taken every year that dress out over 200 pounds. Several are also taken that make it into the Antler and Skull Trophy Club. We specialize in hunting for these prize bucks. The reason why so many hunters flock here to have their chance at a whitetail, is not because there are so many of them, but because of their size. The average 4 1/2 year old buck weighs in at a whopping 200 to 230 pounds, and that's field dressed folks! "Biggest buck shot by a Cedar Ridge Customer was 260 pounds, after field dressing."

• Our guided deer hunts are mainly in areas with little or no hunting pressure. Our guides are the best that Maine has, no doubt about it. They know the area and they know the deer. If they don't, they don't guide for us. We pay our guides extremely well. First of all, they're worth it. It's a hard hunt and they work their tails off. Second, it is challenging enough to deer hunt when you're alone, let alone with a client. Our clients return year after year, not because the deer hunting is fabulous, they come back for several reasons. The relationship they've developed with their guide is one of them. No doubt about it, deer hunting here in Northern Maine is not easy. When you see how big these bucks are and how challenging it is to hunt them, then you understand.

           


• For the hunter renting cabins, there is no limit to the areas from which to hunt. We can get you started in good hunting areas.


• For the Bow Hunter, we have archery hunts during the special archery season in October.This hunt is a semi-guided hunt. We have scouted and set stands for the archery hunter in areas where deer are feeding.

           


• For the more adventurous hunter, we offer a remote hunt in tent-camps. These hunts are limited to only 4 hunters per week. Our remote camps are located in a remote corner of Maine on the Quebec border. This area was mainly virgin timber, and has just recently been logged. This has created excellent feed for the deer and moose. Much of this area had not been hunted. We have leases in two separate gated areas. We take only small groups in these areas to maintain a good experience and trophy quality. The West Camp is limited to four hunters per week and the group can be mixed. The East Camp is new for 2009 and will be open to one group per week with a maximum of three hunters. We will be hunting from wall tents with woods stoves, cots, etc. Both hunts are fully guided and are a unique opportunity to get away from the crowds.


• Muzzleload hunting is the first week of December (often starting in November). There is almost always snow on the ground for this hunt. It is common to find the bucks still chasing does, as well as some bucks pretty tuckered out by this time. Sometimes you can catch them off guard.

There are record class bucks here in the area and in the state of Maine. Not only do they grow big in body size, but check out these bucks that are being winter fed. Hal and Deb took some of these photos and one of our guides Jim Bernardin took some in a different area. No these bucks are not behind every tree, but this area does have some really big deer. Be in the best shape of your life, hunt long and hard, listen to your guide and you may get a shot at a buck that looks like one of these bad boys.

Pricing for 2012 Deer Season
One on one deer hunt $2,500 one hunter with one guide.
Two on one deer hunt $1,650 each, two hunters with one guide.
Three on one deer hunt $1,350 each, three hunters with one guide.
All hunts are 6 day hunts, your travel days are Sundays.

Price includes your own private guide, 3 hearty meals a day, lodging sales tax, cooks/cabin gratuities, care of your trophy (care of game does not mean butchering)
Price DOES NOT include your hunting license.
Price DOES NOT include tipping your guide.

Non resident big game license for the 2012 season is $114

NOTE: We do not mix groups at the lodge, if you're only one hunter and you don't have someone coming with you. Then to go on a guided hunt you need a one on one hunt. The remote hunt is the only guided hunt we mix groups.

The Remote Hunt West is our longest running remote.
On privatly leased land, that is gated.
Limited to 4 hunters, $1,100 Each.

The Remote Hunt East is newly leased land, that is gated.
Limited to 3 hunters, $1,450 Each.
If 2 hunters choose to hunt this area all to themselves then they must pay for that priviledge and pay $4,100.

Special Archery Season October 1 - 30th
"Semi guided archery deer hunt" October 4th-10th,
with meals - $995 each (price based on 2 hunters)
"Semi guided archery deer hunt" October 18th-30th,
without meals - $525 each (price based on 2 hunters)
This hunt includes - stands or blinds set up in scouted areas. A guide to show you to the stand, meals that include a bagged lunch. Includes 7 nights lodging, sales tax and the wait staff gratuities.
This hunt does not include - Your hunting license, transportation to your stand, not does it include guide tips.

Approx 35% deposit (check or credit card) is required at time of booking on all deer hunts. Deposits are non refundable, unless your cancelled spot is refilled.

$795 per person, price is based on a minimum of 3 people in a cabin.
Depending on the size of the cabin, or if it's the luxury cabin the price will change. If there is only one in your party, you will pay a flat rate for the meal plan, but each cabin has a minimum price. Some as high as $1,400 per week. 178 lb 8 pointer, scoring in at just 125 points, makes the
Maine "MASTC" scoring club under muzzleload category.
