The State of Maine has the largest concentration of Moose anywhere in the continental US. The Moose here are what are consider "the Canadian Moose". The largest weight moose taken at Cedar Ridge was 1,056 lbs dressed. The largest spread for antlers was 60 inches. Every year our clients shoot trophy moose. One or two make it in the Maine Antler Scull & Trophy club.

To hunt Moose in Maine, you must be drawn in the "Moose lottery". If you are one of the "lucky" ones, Cedar Ridge offers one-on-one Trophy moose hunts.

Maine Moose hunting is a drawing only. Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife starts taking applications in January and the drawing is held mid June. (see dates to hunt below). We do not take any bookings until AFTER you are a lucky winner.

For the application, rules & regulations, dates and fees go to
www.mefishwildlife.com and click on moose hunting. There is a whole page that you can read that will answer all your questions about the drawing etc.

When you are making out the application, you can purchase several chances. Also the application will give you your choice of picks in what zones you would like. These are our Top 10 choices:
#1. 8 (Cedar Ridge Outfitters is located in zone 8)
#2. 4
#3. 5
#4. 1
#5. 2
#6. 14
#7. 9
#8. 7
#9. 10
#10. 11

The application will also mention "subpermittee". That is an area you can "choose" to put someones name in. That person is someone that you would want with you on the hunt, and someone that can also shoot the moose. (One moose, 2 hunters). But you may also choose to leave it blank. Either way, our prices are set up for 2 hunters for each permit.

All of our guides are very experienced moose hunting guides. Excellent at calling and stalking moose. They have the knowledge and the special equipment to get your 800 to 1000 lbs moose out of the woods whole. Then after weighing and tagging at a station, (and a little showing off) the moose are taken to the butcher for processing. Or if you choose to do your own butchering, we have a large walk in refrigerator to store your moose in.

Once your moose is down and at the butcher, your guide will be assisting the other guides until all or most tags are filled. And you sure do appreciate the extra hand when your one of the hunters thats left that hasn't filled their tag yet.

"Go into your hunt looking to have a good time and weather permitting you will. There are no guarantees in hunting and the worse case going with Hal and Cedar Ridge, you will make lifelong friends and gain weight in the mean time. (The meals are to die for) Once each guy in camp tags out, his guides will come back to the team to work for you. Whichever decision you make, you won't go wrong with Cedar Ridge. Best of luck."Mark Strong

"Hi Hal & Deb,
John Baummer here, zone 4 Moose season. You guys did such an awesome job. Dan and I miss hunting in Maine already. I can't thank you enough. I've hunted with a few outfitters before and I have to say that Cedar Ridge is the best. Sounds like you guys had a great second week of Moose Hunting too."
John Baummer

"Hi Hal & Deb-
Just wanted to thank you again for a great Maine moose hunt. We enjoyed the remote camp and it added to the overall experience. Tom & Rocky made it as comfortable as possible, despite the wet weather. And the meals were great.
Tom & Rocky worked hard to locate moose & you could tell that they had done their scouting ahead of time. They worked well as a team and we hunted on foot as promised. Tom is an impressive moose caller - he got many responses to his calls during our hunt. Everything from retrevial of our bull to checking him in at the check station to taking him to the butcher was handled professionally. We also enjoyed getting to spend a couple of days in Jackman at Cedar Ridge. We are happy that we decided to hunt with such a well equiped & experienced outfitter. We would highly recommend Cedar Ridge to anyone."
Joe Gervais

"I need to say thank you for everything. My father and I had a wonderful time with you on the moose hunt with enough great memories to last a life time. I can not say enough good things about the services that you provided. If I ever need an honest, trustworthy, hard working guide again you are the man. Your personal attention to the details before, during, and after the hunt made the difference in our experience."Bob Pierce

"We just got home from our 21-hour drive to Ohio and Kentucky. Definitely well worth it though! The moose hunting was absolutely amazing and I just wanted to let you both know what a great time the three of us had and what a great job you guys did. Kevin is absolutely the best...he really made the trip for us! He is very good at what he does and genuinely fun to be around!"Christy & Zach Gates

"I just wanted to say again how much I really enjoyed the moose hunt at Cedar Ridge. You guys run a well organized, professional operation. I can't imagine anyone would ever have a complaint. We really enjoyed having Chris as our guide. He did a great job and I can't say enough good things about him."Sam Mills
