Maine Hunting |
Here at Cedar Ridge, we offer a first class dining experience along with the guided hunts. Dining may also be purchased as a package with the lodging for unguided as well as long as it coincides with when the dining room is open.
All the meals served at cedar ridge are specifically prepared for the man in mind. Don't take that wrong, our women hunters love the menu just as well if not more. Good hearty hot food and plenty of it.
Self taught Chef Deb Blood, has many years experience. She started cooking at the young age of 10 when her Mom had complications in childbirth. That left Deb (the oldest of 4) home with her Dad and 3 sisters and no one to prepare a meal. "I can remember wanting to be in the kitchen to help cook from the time I could walk". With a stay at home Mom that cooked for the family daily and a grandmother with the "gift" for cooking, Deb was destined for cooking greatness.
Deb, along with a staff of three, cook three hearty meals a day. During the bear season there are three hot meals a day. During the rest of the fall (October through November) there are two hot meals a day and a packed lunch.
You will enjoy eating your meal in the friendly atmosphere of the main lodge; A 3,500 square foot custom log home masterpiece. Hal and Deb open their home to not only serve the hunters a hot meal but also enjoy the company of their guests. Come relax around one of our tables and share your stories. If what you are looking for is first class dining in a friendly family environment, then you’ve come to the right place. The Motto here at Cedar ridge is, "Your a friend the minute you walk in the door".
Debs recipes have been featured in many recipe books over the years. And she features a "recipe of the month" on Hals web site, Big Woods Bucks.
Coming in the future, a cook book like no other!
"I just wanted to drop you a line and thank you for the incredible trip that I had. This was my first hunting trip and I'm afraid that I have been spoiled. Your staff made us feel as though we were part of the Cedar Ridge family and the accommodations were just as you had described (spotless, comfortable, perfect). My poor wife has gone into a depression because I haven't stop talking about the food, and the Bear Hunting left me 150% Satisfied. Then to be able to spend some of my free time catching Maine Brookies was the icing on the cake. I've been chewing my brother-in-laws ears off about the experience and the question is no longer where to go next, but when to go back to Cedar Ridge and for what Game."Rob Elser
