Maine Hunting |
Here at Cedar Ridge Outfitters we offer a first class dining experience for our customers that come on a guided hunt. The dining package may also be purchased for people renting cabins in the fall. But this is only available at the time that the guided hunts are happening.
The meals served at Cedar Ridge are served family style, right in our home. (see photos of our home HERE.) Where an "all you can eat" buffet style meal awaits our anticipating customers.
During the bear season, the largest meal is served mid day, before you leave for the hunt. Then we serve homemade stews and sandwiches when the hunters return for the evening. We do it this way, because during bear season, it can be as late as 10:00 in the evening before the hunters get back.
During Octobers bird hunting, moose hunting and November deer season, your lunch is packed for you to take to the field.
A large breakfast and the evening meal are served hot and hearty by Deb Blood and her staff of four assistants.
Self Taught Chef Debbie Blood, has many years of experience in a kitchen. She started cooking at the young age of 10 when her Mom had complications in childbirth. That left Deb (the oldest of 3) home with her Dad and 2 young sisters. With no one to step in to cook the meals, she stepped up to the "stove" then and hasn't left it for long since. She can remember wanting to be in the kitchen cooking from the time she could walk. Most often finding herself sitting on the table watching her Mom or Nana cook, then in front of the television. With a stay at home Mom and a Grandmother with the "gift" for cooking, Deb was destined for cooking greatness.
You will enjoy eating your meal in the friendly atmosphere of the main lodge; A 3,500 square foot custom log home masterpiece. Hal and Deb open their home to not only serve the hunters a hot meal but also enjoy the company of their guests. Come relax around one of our tables and share your stories. If what you are looking for is first class dining in a friendly family environment, then you’ve come to the right place. The Motto here at Cedar ridge is, "Your a friend the minute you walk in the door".
For the remote Hunts, the menu is slightly altered for remote cooking situations. Instead of roasts, you'll get meats that can be cooked in a frying pan & gas grill. Like Pork tenderloin instead of stuffed pork roast. We here in the kitchen do most of the pre cooking for the remotes. Like the baby back ribs are pre done for you. All the desserts are made here and sent out as well as the homemade breads and biscuts.
Deb is writing a cookbook. Her recipes have also been featured in other cookbooks, magazines, and the web. To be updated on publishing progress, send us your email address for newsletters and publishing dates.
"If heaven is like Cedar Ridge then I have no problem going there. You have a class outfit with awesome staff. I have never had a better time and of course the food was out of this world. Peanut butter pie, bread pudding, pies & more pies etc. I cannot say enough about Mike Stevens and the effort he put forth for Reggie and I."All the best,
Charlie Carey
"I just wanted to drop you a line and thank you for the incredible trip that I had. This was my first hunting trip and I'm afraid that I have been spoiled. Your staff made us feel as though we were part of the Cedar Ridge family and the accommodations were just as you had described (spotless, comfortable, perfect). My poor wife has gone into a depression because I haven't stop talking about the food, and the Bear Hunting left me 150% Satisfied. Then to be able to spend some of my free time catching Maine Brookies was the icing on the cake. I've been chewing my brother-in-laws ears off about the experience and the question is no longer where to go next, but when to go back to Cedar Ridge and for what Game."Rob Elser
